cataloging of ceramic

The production of pottery/ceramic represents one of the principal innovations in the Neolithic. Often vases shapes and decoration are interpreted as expressions of cutlural identity: the study of pottery therefore represents one of the principal information source for the archaeologist. The manufacts, as direct emanation of the culture that has produced them (material culture),  provide a quantity of data relating to the community itself.  The most important are: the dating of the context in which it was found, technology, production and circulation of the objects,  data on socio-cultural phenomenons, on the diet and on the rituals.  The study of pottery is organized following  commune research’s metodology and shared by the scientific community.
